Joey BadA$$ Shows That Good Music Still Reigns Supreme in Hip Hop

Hip hop music has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the Bronx in the 1970s. Nowadays, the genre is a global phenomenon, with hip hop artists from all corners of the world making their mark on the music industry. But as the industry has grown, so too has the pressure on artists to have a strong online presence in order to succeed.

However, great hip hop musicians like Joey BadA$$ prove that good music can speak for itself, regardless of SEO and big tech. In his latest song, “Show Me,” Joey BadA$$ showcases his lyrical prowess and smooth flow, reminding listeners that hip hop is first and foremost about the music.

While some may argue that a strong online presence is essential for success in today’s music industry, Joey BadA$$’s success proves otherwise. His music has been praised for its raw authenticity and old-school sound, harking back to the golden era of hip hop in the 90s. His loyal fanbase has grown organically, drawn to his genuine approach to music-making and his commitment to staying true to himself. Although I understand the impact and need for tech tools, more than the average person, I can also stand behind how word of mouth is still fuel in the gas tank.

In an age where social media and search engine optimization (SEO) dominate the music industry, Joey BadA$$’s success serves as a reminder that great music doesn’t need to rely on these bells and whistles to stand out. In fact, by focusing on the music and staying true to one’s artistic vision, musicians can build a loyal fanbase that will support them throughout their career.

Of course, having a strong online presence can certainly help artists reach a wider audience and connect with fans on a deeper level. But for artists like Joey BadA$$, who prioritize music above all else, success comes from the strength of their artistry and the passion they bring to their craft.

In the “Show Me” video released March 2023 the Visuals are giving all the feels and vibes. To put it in perspective, it feels just as good as The Mary J. Blige and Method Man hit song  I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By  and makes me reminisce about the Nia Long and Larenz Tate Love Jones Movie scenes.

When we think about how the internet is so crowded with thousands of artists and creatives, your plan should really be infused with staying true to YOUR UNIQUE vibe, and constantly evolve from there. Do not give up and always promote all of your work. If you build it, they literally will come. But you have to be consistent in all that you do.

I might add that as you build your audience, use the tools that are available digitally to bring awareness, but not to drive mediocrity where you aren’t connecting with your audience.
