Latham Thomas Empowers Black Women and Highlights Doula Impact on Maternal Health

Alright, buckle up because it’s time we talk about World Doula Week. From March 22 to 28, 2025, we’re putting a spotlight on the game-changers in maternal and infant health – doulas. And one person you absolutely need to know about is the inspiring lifestyle guru and birth doula, Latham Thomas.
Latham, also known by her super cool alias ‘Glow Maven’, has been a champion for women’s health for over two solid decades. Now, a lot of folks might venture into doula work after having negative or traumatic experiences themselves. But, for Latham, it was her own positive childbirth experience that lighted the spark.
Over two decades ago, when she was in the delivery room, the support, the safety, and the dignity she felt through the birth of her now 21-years-old son, all of it was transformative. That feeling of autonomy with her healthcare providers, it wasn’t just inspiring, it was a revelation.
She thought – wait a second, this is how every woman should feel. From there, she set off on her journey with a mission to protect and treasure this experience for others. She didn’t just want to challenge and change the scare stories and negative perspectives on childbirth. She wanted to tackle the glaring problems our community faces when it comes to birth and maternity care.
And that’s what a doula is for Latham – it’s an advocate, a supporter, a change-maker. This World Doula week, let’s celebrate everyone who, like Latham, is making a huge difference in transforming birth experiences. Let’s recognize the impact they’re making, not just in our community, but worldwide.
